The Best Showrooms To Pull From: LA Edition

You hear the word all the time but what exactly is a showrooom? Put short, this is a place that holds different clothing lines in one space and made available to stylists to pull for their various projects. That could be anything from a red carpet appearance to a magazine photoshoot to a TV show and everything else in between. I like to describe showrooms as a fashion library. You go to borrow a few items and bring them back in the condition they were given to you. If those items come up damaged, or worse, missing, you have to pay the price. But as long as you treat the clothes with respect and build a rapport with the publicists, you're good.

Now let's get to the info you really want to know. Yes, some showrooms charge you a pull fee, but a majority of them don't. You might be wondering how these companies can survive by not charging you. Well as the saying goes, there's no such thing as a free lunch. The designers pay a fee to keep their clothes in the showrooms and the showrooms let you borrow in exchange for publicity/press for the brands. Typically the brands held in showrooms are up and coming and hoping to land their clothes on a big celebrity which will lead to sales for them. See how this thing works? Here are 5 showrooms you can reach out to for your next project, like today

**Each listing contains photos of actual items at each showroom.

Know that showrooms are not like a store, you can't just walk in and demand to borrow their designer items. You must have an appointment approved by the showroom manager, so they know exactly what you're looking for and whether or not they carry it.

This saves both parties’ time. Imagine walking into a showroom looking for dope streetwear and all they carry are sparkly princess dresses. Yeah, exactly. That's why I compiled a list featuring over 50 of LA and New York's BEST showrooms and I'm sharing it with you because I remember how hard it was finding places to pull when I first started!
